A warm, sunny day in the rolling Strzelecki Ranges suggested conditions were ripe for some hot golf at Mirboo North for the final day of this year’s Classic Tournament.
Results on the final day would also determine the winners of the 36 hole Classic Championship. In this regard it was a little disappointing that more golfers who played at Yarram the day before didn’t make the trip to Mirboo North.
With the course in excellent condition & the clubhouse bbq fired up, play for the shotgun start got underway at 8.00am. Merry Dear took out overall honours for the women, with a handicap score of 33 points; just a single point ahead of the very consistent Wendy Gervasi on 32 points.
For the men, A-grade scratch winner was local Simon McInnes who shot a gross score of 78. A-grade Handicap Winner on count back was Matthew Marshall with 33 points. In other handicap grades, another local, Stephen Beitz won B-grade with an excellent score of 42 points &Warragul golfer Richard Horseman beat the field home to win C-grade on count back with 31 points.
