A fine sunny day; a great course in wonderful condition and more than 140 keen golfers over the morning & afternoon fields set the scene for a memorable Day 8 of the tournament.
Scores over the morning & afternoon competitions were mixed. In the morning womens comp, Toni West won A-grade scratch honours with 84 gross, while Wendy Gervasi took out A-grade handicap with a score of 72 net (89 gross)&Frankie McLennan won B-grade on a count back with 33 points.
In the men’s competitions, Terry Fullerton won A-grade scratch with 82; Anthony Sparkes won A-grade handicap with 74 net (83 gross); David Elliott won B-grade Handicap with 35 points & Richard Horseman won C-grade with an impressive 40 points.
In the afternoon, Ruth Iser took out fitrst place in a small womens field. Craig Hios Shot 79 to win A-grade scratch; Club stalwart Paul McAninly won A-grade Handicap with a net score of 74 (82 gross);Traralgon golfer Alan Axford took B-grade honours with a great score of 41 points& one of the “Bairnsdale Boys”, Tom Hollingsworth played to his Handicap to win C-grade with 36 points.
